ARACELY AGUIAR ANNOUNCED AS NEXT PIERCE COLLEGE PRESIDENT 

Aracely Aguiar will serve as the permanent Pierce College President beginning 
July 1, 2024. 

Los Angeles, CA — On Wednesday, June 12, the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) Board of Trustees unanimously approved the appointment of Aracely Aguiar to serve as the permanent President at LA Pierce College. President Aguiar has dutifully served as Pierce’s Interim President for the past two and a half years, following numerous roles within LACCD—from Adjunct Faculty, Professor, Department Chair, Dean, and Vice President of Academic Affairs. 

“On behalf of the LACCD Board of Trustees, we are pleased to approve President Aguiar’s permanent appointment,” said Board of Trustees President Nichelle Henderson. “Her journey from LA Valley and LA City College student to college president embodies our District’s mission to foster student success and cultivate future leaders through high-quality education.” 

“From starting as a student at LA Valley College and LA City College to now college president is a powerful and inspiring trajectory. From this lens, President Aguiar possesses an exceptional dedication to the success of students at Los Angeles Pierce College and at LACCD,” said Chancellor Francisco C. Rodriguez, Ph.D. “President Aguiar has strengthened the academic profile of the college through strategic hires, through strong community and industry partnerships and securing of federal grants and laying the foundation for the District’s fifth baccalaureate degree in biotechnology. Her commitment to improved student outcomes and equity has positioned the college exceptionally well for the future.” 

“It is an honor to continue to serve as President of LA Pierce College,” said President Aguiar. “I joined the LACCD family in 1987 and my commitment has been and will always be to support student success. I look forward to serving all the members of our community, including students, classified professionals, faculty and administrators.” 

President Aguiar holds a Master of Business Management from Pepperdine University, a bachelor’s degree in public health from UCLA, and an associate degree in dental hygiene. President Aguiar’s trajectory, starting as a student at LA Valley College, West LA College and LA City College to now serving as President of LA Pierce College, is truly admirable and remarkable.
